ACT
The ACT exam is a national standardized exam. Colleges and scholarship bodies use the scores from this exam when determining eligibility. All students who wish to continue their education beyond high school should take this exam starting their junior year of high school. Students are responsible for registering for the exam on the ACT website.
Here are the dates and registration deadlines for 2024:
April 13, 2024 – March 24th registration deadline
June 8, 2024 – May 19th registration deadline
July 13, 2024 – June 21st registration deadline
Cost (no writing): $63
Cost (with writing): $88
Students who receive free or reduced lunch may qualify for a fee waiver. Stop in the counseling office to see Mr. Ohloff for a fee waiver and/or test prep materials.

- A free ACT prep course is now available from TutorMe. Created by ACT experts, the course features over ten hours of fully animated content. The course also contains over five hundred practice problems covering all concepts tested on the ACT.
- Varsity Learning Tools currently provides free diagnostic tests, practice tests, flashcards, and questions of the day for the ACT.
Accuplacer
Accupacer is an untimed, computerized test that helps your prospective college evaluate your skills and place you into appropriate courses. For most courses through Kirkwood Community College, you need to complete the reading and writing exams. You will receive your Accuplacer results immediately after completing the test, and your score report includes messages informing you what courses you should take.
