February Board Meeting Highlights

Each month the North Cedar School Board shares a few highlights of our monthly board meetings. These takeaways are messages that the board collectively feels are important for the public to know. Here are the highlights from the February 19, 2024 regular meeting:

  1. Passing the PPEL is an investment in the excellence of our educational system. For someone who owns a home assessed at $135,000, their PPEL contribution is just 25-cents a day. The collective contributions of everyone in the district allow the PPEL to make a big difference. Without it, upgrades to make our buildings safer, purchasing buses and vehicles, replacing computers, buying new kitchen equipment, and other building maintenance and repairs would likely have to come out of the district’s already constrained general fund.
  2. As we bid farewell to some of our esteemed colleagues, it is with mixed emotions that we announce their well-deserved retirements. With a blend of joy for their future endeavors and a hint of sadness at their departure, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mark Norton, Autumn Reiling, Laura First-Schroeder, Angie Wood, Sharon Rouse, Diane Martinson, Julie Brissette, and Scott Kasik. Throughout their career with us, each of them has played an invaluable role in shaping the North Cedar CSD into what it is today. Their dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment have not only contributed to the success of our district but have also left a lasting impression on each one of us.
  3. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of the athletes and participants who took part in the winter sports activities this season. Your dedication, hard work, and passion have truly shone through, making this season a memorable one. Your achievements, both on and off the field, do not go unnoticed. Whether you reached personal bests, earned medals, or simply enjoyed the camaraderie of being part of a team, each of you has contributed to the success of our winter sports program. We also want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the coaches, volunteers, and supporters who have dedicated their time and energy to help our athletes succeed. Your guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support have been instrumental in shaping our athletes into the remarkable individuals they are today.
